Man, ever since Chalino Sanchez was killed the genre of narco corridos has gotten that much more serious. Sinaloa's own Los Cuates takes up where forefathers like Chalino left off. Los Cuates (which means siblings) take stories they hear from folks that risk their lives crossing the border to create some of the most memorable songs. Songs like "El Compadre" and "Los Gallos Mas Caro," explore themes like friendship, betrayal and a whole lot of deceit that often comes from underground dealings in drugs and arms.
Hey, no one said it was easy being a pimp and Los Cuates are able to render these stories in ways that will give you chills. While the music is strong and definitely full of heart you'll agree that these brothers are here for a while. Los Cuates aren't the flashy banda masters or corrido pushers that rely on hyperbole. The stuff they're singing about doesn't get any realer than love, violence and death.
Pick up their newest joint called "Los Gallos Mas Caro."
